Mobile Ground-to-Truck Loading Ramps

For easier handling of freight off trucks, trailers and railcars.

The Bluff Portable Loading Ramp (yard ramp) is moved into place at trailers, railcars, or docks. A self-contained, double-acting hydraulic pump adjusts the unit to the proper position. Literally in minutes the unit is ready to load or unload freight. 18" solid rubber tires (no flats) make the unit easy to position or tow. Steel grating with the bearing bars oriented in the direction of travel gives maximum strength while the serrated top provides excellent traction while preventing build-up of snow, water, and other debris. Solid steel deck approach plates at both ends provide a smooth transition and maximum life for the ramp. (CAUTION: other units use open grating at both ends... this allows the steering wheels of the forklift to twist the bearing bars causing failure).

Diamond Deck Steel Approach Plates

One of the unique features of a Bluff ramp is the floor plate at each end.  Full width and covering the approach and discharge end of the ramps, it:
  • Eases the transition from ground, dock and grating
  • Serves as the turning pad for forklift tires…turning on grating is bad news
  • Absorbs impact of lift truck & load entering the ramp
  • Diamond Deck design aids in traction

Hydraulic Pump

The hydraulic system allows for smooth and quick raising of the front lip to the proper dock or trailer height. Simply open the release valve to safely lower the unit into position. The pump is mounted internally to protect it from accidental damage.

Heavy-duty wheels and solid rubber, pneumatic profile tires make positioning the Yard ramp easy. For stationary dock installations, standard Yard ramps are available in 30' and 36' lengths without wheel assemblies.

The ramp clamp assists operator in moving the Yard ramp over short distances. Forklift tine inserts into the swiveling lift loop and is secured by a locking device.

Note: The Tow bar can be substituted for a Ramp Clamp at no charge.

Grating

  • Serrated for Traction
  • Self-Cleaning

Serrated grating provides excellent traction and the open design prevents buildup of water, snow, oil, grease and miscellaneous debris. The lower and upper end approach plates provides maximum support and smooth transition onto the ramp grating surface. CAUTION: when evaluating other ramps make sure the grating bearing bars run the length of the ramp and not from side to side. Even a good quality grating looses strength when it is not used in the proper orientation.

  • Heavy-duty formed steel side girders provide main load-bearing capability
  • Steel side girders welded to steel Z members form a superior frame

Multiple Z cross members are welded to the side girders, then self-cleaning steel grating is welded to the Z members to form a one-piece unitized Yard ramp.

Safety Chain

Standard safety chains hold Yard ramp securely to the trailer or dock.  Always lower the top of the ramp into position on the trailer floor and then secure with safety chains.

Side Curbs

One of the truly unique aspects of the Bluff yard ramp design is it's side curbs. A full 8" above the driving surface of the ramp, they offer maximum run-off protection. Not like competitive designs that use tubing which is easily knocked loose, the Bluff curb is a structural part of the overall design.

Tow Bar

The optional towbar features a fast-locking, easy hook-up to the Yard ramp and makes towing over longer distances practical. A quick disconnect feature improves handling efficiency. Bluff yardramps with undercarriages should never be towed over 3 to 5 mph.

Pneumatic Wheels

Optional pneumatics in place of standard solid tires will allow the unit to be moved over uneven or rough terrain with ease.
